In a world where routine can often dominate, some souls find their essence in the pursuit of the unexplored, the wild, and the exhilarating. Meet Jemima Robinson, not only a relentless seeker of adventure whose thirst for new experiences knows no bounds, but the Adventure Reels Founder and Director of 17 years.
From swimming with Whale Sharks in Ningaloo to hiking amidst the Gorillas in Uganda, Jemima’s quest for novelty propels her forward. In this interview with the O.G tour host, get to know Jemima’s passions, from snowboarding in pristine backcountry to embracing the depths of the ocean through freediving.
- What kinds of adventures do you seek?
Always something new. I rarely go back to the same place. There are so many places to explore. Right now I’m most stoked on wildlife experiences like swimming with Whale Sharks in Ningaloo and hiking to the Gorillas in Uganda. But anything snow or ocean related I’m up for.
- What sports do you enjoy or what are your hobbies/ interests? What goals are you working towards in that space?
In Winter I love snowboarding, exploring the backcountry and overnight hikes. In Summer I love anything ocean related. At the moment I’m enjoying freediving.
- Tell us 3 interesting adventure facts about yourself:
I once hiked in Nepal for 32 days. I’ve worked ski seasons in Canada and Switzerland. I once built and slept in an igloo in the Australian backcountry.

The pursuit of the unknown, beautiful wild places and fun.
- What’s your favourite film/ tv show?
Alone Australia
- Tell us 3 of your favourite places you’ve travelled to and where’s next on your list?
Ladakh, Uganda, Alaska. Next on my list is more of Africa and rafting in the Yukon in Canada.
- What’s the best part about working for Adventure Reels?
Seeing the excited faces and hearing the comments at the end of a screening is a definite highlight. Plus every day is different! From festival to festival you never know what the filmmakers are going to create, 17 years later and I am still excited to watch the films submitted.
- Why should everyone see the Banff Mountain Film Festival this year?
There is an incredible array of diversity in the films this year PLUS this year’s program features the inspiring Aussie BASE jumping adventurer Glenn Singlemann in the epic film Eternal Flame.
- What’s one thing on your bucket list?
Swimming with Orca in Norway and heli skiing in Alaska - What’s your favourite inspirational quote/ motto?
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
